KaiYuan Mat

Strengths:
   Streamlined formulation; cost-controllable;
   No expandable fillers; predictable holding force curve facilitates engineering simulation;
   Flexible basis weight and thickness design; adaptable to custom non-standard dimensions;
   Lower organic content; reduced smoke during initial vehicle operation.
Limitations:
   Narrow effective holding force temperature window; pronounced decay at high temperatures;
   Demanding gap tolerance requirements; insufficient low-temperature holding force in oversized gaps;
   Performance ceiling below intumescent mats; limited competitiveness in heavy-duty commercial vehicle long-life applications;
   EU REACH restricted
Ceramic fiber non-intumescent mats comprise RCF (refractory ceramic fiber) and organic binders, free of expandable fillers such as vermiculite or graphite. RCF provides the high-temperature skeleton, thermal insulation, and baseline holding force. Organic binders ensure processability during manufacturing and installation, burning off during initial high-temperature operation. Unlike intumescent mats, holding force relies entirely on fiber elastic recovery, following a natural decay curve as fibers shrink at elevated temperatures—without supplemental expansion compensation.
Composition & Function
Strengths & Limitations
Suitable for continuous operating temperatures ≤950°C, covering most common duty cycles. Typical applications include gasoline TWC/GPF, light- and heavy-duty diesel DOC/DPF/SCR, and non-road machinery after-treatment systems. Optimal for canning designs with tight gap tolerances, low vibration levels, and moderate system backpressure. Generally not recommended for large-gap filling, severe thermal cycling, or high-backpressure conditions. KY-Mat's next-generation KY1858HT leverages advanced fiber enhancement technology, extending application range to selected severe-duty environments.
