KaiYuan Mat

Strengths:
   EU REACH and German TRGS 905 compliant; no registration required for EU market entry;
   Metabolizable fibers; significantly reduced occupational health risk in manufacturing and aftermarket service
Limitations:
   Higher raw material cost than ceramic fiber alternatives;
   Temperature ceiling restricted; unsuitable for >750°C applications;
   Elastic recovery decay under long-term high-temperature aging faster than PCW systems.

Bio-soluble intumescent mats utilize AES (alkaline earth silicate) fiber as the base matrix, combined with vermiculite and organic binders. AES fibers dissolve and clear from the body, exhibiting significantly lower biopersistence than conventional ceramic fibers—addressing occupational health risks at the source. Vermiculite provides thermal expansion to compensate for high-temperature holding force loss, while organic binders ensure manufacturing processability. This formulation balances regulatory compliance with engineering reliability, making it the preferred solution for regulation-sensitive markets.
Composition & Function
Strengths & Limitations
Suitable for continuous operating temperatures ≤750°C, covering gasoline TWC, light-duty diesel DOC/SCR/DPF, and hybrid vehicle catalysts. Optimal for applications with frequent human interaction, enclosed-space mounting, or mandatory bio-soluble material requirements—such as passenger vehicle underfloor configurations, installations near construction equipment operator cabs, and full EU-export vehicle programs. The ~100°C lower temperature limit versus ceramic fiber systems requires avoidance in heavy-duty diesel and close-coupled high-load applications.
